Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is your cancellation policy? A: You can read it by clicking here.
Q: Who do you teach? A: I teach civilian pet owners.
Q: What do you teach? A: Novice obedience with emphasis on medium to large dogs and aggression problems, as well as severe behavior problems.
Q: What method of dog training do you use? A: We use natural praise, motivation, proper physical correction, socialization, exercise, traditional training tools and a proven program.
Q: Is the training methods you use on the dogs very physical? A: Yes they are based off the premise of physics and inertia. So the methods are quite physical.
Q: How did you learn? A: I intensely researched the subject of 1884-1975 Military based dog training for ten years.
Q: Are you a "certified" dog trainer? A: There is no national Government organization that legally certifies people as "Professional Dog Trainers" in Canada. Therefore no I am not certified, and neither is any other trainer in Canada.
Q: What about trainers that claim they are certified? A: They bought their credentials/diploma from a business/company (or political organization) that is selling their own "diploma". The only value it has is the value you place on it. It's basically a scam for the ignorant. (proof of the above lays in the fact that; I myself could create a 'certification program', and "certify" people in the 'Hell on Paws' method, simply by registering myself as a private vocational school)
Q: Do you train guard dogs for the public? A: No we don't.
Q: Do you train police dogs? A: No. Never have and never will.
Q: Should aggressive dogs be muzzled during training? A: Yes.
Q: Will those dogs still need a muzzle after completing your training? A: No.
Q: What is the best type of muzzle to use? A: Contact us and we can tell you. The proper muzzle isn't cheap though.
Q: Who are your biggest role models? A: Non-conformists.
Q: What aspect of working dogs is the most valid? A: Tracking/Scent work.
Q: What teaching style do you now use with students? A: Blunt, direct and frank.
Q: Why do you use that teaching style? A: I have learned that the more you say, the less people remember, the fewer the words, the deeper the impression.
Q: Are you involved in obedience trials, Kennels clubs, associations, or other groups? A: No we are free of political involvement of any sort here.
Q: What is the hardest thing to teach people? A: That correcting a dog is not at all similar to punishment. In reality, it is simply a physical conditioning process.
Q: What is the leading cause of failure with your students? A: They simply give up and quit.
Q: What do people underestimate the most about dog training? A: The amount of work required.
Q: How important is the handler having a positive attitude in terms of gaining success with a dog? A: It's the most important thing of all.
